Colposcopies
This a procedure that enables your physician to perform a close examination of vagina, vulva and cervix for signs of illness and disease. During your colposcopy, the physician typically uses a specialized instrument known as a colposcope.
Your provider might advise a colposcopy if the results of your Pap test are abnormal. In the event your physician identifies unusual areas of cells during the colposcopy procedure, a tissue sample may be collected for lab testing.
